3 Ways to Get Your Dog to Stop Ripping Up Plush Toys

It's every dog owner's nightmare come true. You bring your furry friend home a new plush toy, and within minutes, they've managed to destroy it. Fluff is everywhere, and the toy is ruined. What's a pup parent to do? Fortunately, there are a few things you can try to help your dog kick the stuffing habit.

1. Keep Their Toys Out of Sight
Dogs are natural scavengers, so it's no surprise that they love ripping apart plush toys. One way to help stop the destruction is to keep their toys out of sight when you're not home. If they can't see the toy, they can't rip it apart.

2. Get Them a Tough Toy
If your dog is a heavy chewer, chances are they're going to rip apart anything you give them, plush or not. In that case, it's best to get them a toy that's built to last, like a Kong toy filled with peanut butter or a Nylabone chew bone.

3. Train Them With Positive Reinforcement
Dogs respond well to positive reinforcement, so if you catch your dog ripping up a toy, try to redirect their attention with a treat or their favorite chew toy. With time and patience, they'll learn that ripping up their toys isn't acceptable behavior.

No one likes coming home to find their dog has destroyed another plush toy. But don't worry, there are things you can do to help stop the madness. Try keeping their toys out of sight when you're not around, investing in a tough toy , or training them with positive reinforcement . With a little time and effort, your dog will be kicking the stuffing habit in no time!
